Adult Day Care

Adult Day Care is a social weekday program which provides stimulating activities in a supervised and protective setting for dependent adults aged 60 and older. Meals and snacks are provided, and individualized plans of care are developed for each participant.

Empowered Aging provides support to residents of skilled nursing home and residential facilities who need help investigating their complaints regarding services.

Family Caregiver Support

The AAA addresses the specific needs of family members who provide care to elderly relatives. This network of agencies provide family caregivers with respite services, resource information, counseling, assistive living devices, and services to grandparents who are providing custodial care to a child.

Family Caregiver Alliance

The mission of the Family Caregiver Alliance is to improve the quality of life for family caregivers and the people who receive their care. They offer self-defense tips for fraud prevention, Family Caregiver Boot Camp, and Caregiver Caveats. Services provided in English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Tagalog.

Jewish Family & Community Services – East Bay

The vision of the Jewish Family & Community Services of the East Bay is “A community where everyone can flourish with dignity.” Our services for older adults include many resources for aging advice along with specific support in home care. We also have support groups, including a Holocaust Survivor program.

Uplift Family Services – Pacific Clinics

Loneliness and mental health are challenges for people of all ages. The richly diverse Bay Area can be fast-paced and transitory. The ever-widening gap between socioeconomic levels has left many families struggling, feeling isolated and disconnected from a close-knit community. When Pacific Clinics steps up to help, we typically address both mental health and basic needs, including food and clothing. The most significant behavioral health needs include depression, anxiety, suicidality, substance abuse, school bullying, behavioral challenges and parenting skills.

Represent Elders

Your voice is needed! You can really help the older adults in your community by serving on Contra Costa County’s Advisory Council on Aging, either as a city representative or member-at-large. The Membership Workgroup of the ACOA meets on third Wednesday of each month at 12:30pm. For more information and application, please check the website.
